Study of Child`s Self-Encourageous Thought, Behavior and Emotion

Abstract
This study is to obtain data for children about self-encourageous thought, behavior and emotion. The subjects were 571 students from 3rd grade to 6th grade at elementary school. The participants were asked to describe about self-encourageous thought, behavior and emotion. The survey data was analyzed by CQR(Consensual Qualitative Research) and the content analysis. The major findings were as follows. First, the most frequent response of self-encouragement was self-encourageous thought; later self-encourageous behavior and self-encourageous emotion followed. Second, the order of frequency in self-encourageous thought¡¯s subordinate variables was the positive thought about self, self-enhance thought, acceptance about imperfection, positive thought about situation, competitiveness, perception about social support, and expectation of compensation. Third, the order of frequency in self-encourageous behavior¡¯s subordinate variables was challenge behavior, physical-exercise behavior, problem-solving behavior, verbal reinforcement, and social behavior. Finally, the order of frequency in self-encourageous emotion¡¯s subordinate variables was self-worth, self-confidence, self-acceptance, self-enhancement and social support.
